There is no doubt that Robby Krieger is one of the most underrated West Coast guitar players ever. His playing (and songwriting) in the Doors recorded legacy is, in a word, striking. Mixing blues, rock, jazz, and fluid Flamenco stylings, Krieger always came up with a fresh synthesis; he was a true original. This album, all instrumental, is perhaps his finest hour as a solo artist. The record contains a couple of songs from an unused children's film project, "Piggy's Song" and "Eagles Song," both of which float out of the speakers with a graceful, jazz-inspired groove topped of by Kreiger's liquid guitar lines. The finest moment on the album, however, is the closing track: a remake of the Doors' "You're Lost Little Girl," one of the most beautiful and under-recognized Doors songs. Driven by the excellence in Bruce Gary's drums and Arthur Barrow's bass, Krieger's guitar positively lifts off the ground, particularly during the end guitar solo, which just may be his finest.
