Les deux premiers albums solos de Bryan Ferry ont été le prétexte a des hommages multiples aux artistes et aux styles qui l'inspirent. Let's Stick Together lui permet de d'affirmer ses talents de compositeur hors du cadre de Roxy Music.
Il reprend en effet ses propres compositions issues des premiers albums de Roxy Music, c'est une manière de se les rapproprier en dehors du contexte du groupe. Bryan Ferry se libère de son conflit créatif avec Eno puis MacKay, c'est une manière d'exorciser ces années au succès frustrant, il cherche à imposer sa propre vision de « Casanova » ou « Re-Make/Re-Model ». Let's Stick Together contient également son lot de reprises, sa manière à lui de s'approprier un héritage allant des Beatles aux Everly Brothers.
Bryan Ferry n'hésite pas à mettre sa voix particulière, à l'épreuve de classiques universellement connus. Ces efforts solo ne sont guère payés en retour, si le simple « Let's Stick Together » se classe n°4 en Grande-Bretagne, l'album est éreinté par la critique et le public préfère l'inventivité des mélanges de styles propres à Roxy Music. Let's Stick Together est le prélude à la dissolution de son groupe, le début d'une traversée du désert qui va durer trois ans. Bryan Ferry pêche ici par présomption, Let's Stick Together lui apprend brutalement à maîtriser son ego, à être plus exigeant dans ses choix. Bryan Ferry reste, pour l'instant, la voix sublime de Roxy Music - et c'est déjà énorme.
