Les cicatrices du temps comme les fêlures des ans donnent à sa voix et à son chant de superbes couleurs automnales. Tout au long de La Nuit ne dure pas dont la direction artistique est signée par Etienne Daho, son fan numéro un qu’elle appelle son « petit frère », Dani déploie son style unique qu’on aime comparer à la version française de l’Anglaise Marianne Faithfull ou de l’Allemande Nico… L’androgyne icône intemporelle et inclassable ayant su traverser les époques avec l’élégance et la décontraction de ceux qui ne savent rien de leur charme publie cet album parallèlement à une autobiographie chez Flammarion portant le même titre. On trouve donc ici des chansons d’antan réenregistrées et des nouvelles. Il y a ce Rouge Rose initialement composé pour elle par Daniel Darc, La Vie à 25 ans créé en 1974, ce fascinant comme Comme un boomeran de Gainsbourg en duo avec Daho, mais aussi des versions réorchestrées et réenregistrées d’Etoiles et revers (ce n’est rien), La Vie à 25 ans (Y’a pas de mal à se faire du bien) et Vive l'enfance.
