Lee Konitz (on alto and soprano) plays well enough on this set but the original material (all composed and arranged by Allan Botschinsky) is somewhat forgettable, the accompaniment (by a Brazilian rhythm section and on some songs a full string section) sounds quite anonymous and little happens in the way of development or surprises. In fact the only unusual aspect to this date is that Konitz was unsuccessful at uplifting the lightweight (if reasonably enjoyable) music. Considering how many more viable Lee Konitz recordings are currently available, this is one of the lesser efforts.
