Sik-K

South Korean rapper Sik-K was a contestant on reality competition program Show Me the Money 4 before slowly rising to fame as a rapper. His style was influenced by Western artists like Drake and Wiz Khalifa to some extent, but production from GroovyRoom gave his 2018 mixtape TRAPART its own slow-moving character. Sik-K was born Kwon Min-sik in Seoul in 1994. He lived briefly in Vancouver, British Columbia as a teenager before returning to South Korea to pursue music. He participated in the 2015 season of Show Me the Money and that same year began releasing his own tracks. He released his debut EP, FLIP, with the OTC label in 2016 but soon signed on with H1ghr Music. Over the next several years Sik-K would release various EPs and mixtapes, including the stylistically varied H.A.L.F. (Have.A.Little.Fun) and Boycold in 2017 and TRAPART in 2018. His studio debut, FL1P, arrived in early 2019, with contributions from Crush, Jessi, and the Quiett. The album peaked at 28 on the Gaon chart. He followed that in September of the same year with S.O.S. (Sink or Swim), a collaboration with like-minded artist Coogie.
