Roy Orbison fue un cantante, compositor y músico especialmente destacado en la escena musical estadounidense. Su temprano interés por la música le llevó durante su adolescencia a formar una banda, The Wink Westerners. Su camino a la fama comenzó cuando firmó con Sun Records en 1956, pero fue con Monument Records con quien se dio a conocer en 1959. En 1960 Orbison lanzó "Only the Lonely", que marcó el comienzo de una serie de éxitos que definieron su carrera. No tardó en hacerse un nombre con su inquietante y hermosa voz y sus baladas cargadas de emoción. Sus mayores éxitos son "Crying", "In Dreams" y "Oh, Pretty Woman". A lo largo de su carrera, Orbison colaboró con varios artistas, contribuyendo a su rico legado musical, incluido el supergrupo The Traveling Wilburys, del que también formaban parte Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne y Tom Petty. El impacto de Roy Orbison en el mundo de la música va más allá de su éxito en las listas de éxitos. Su registro vocal y su estilo único siguen influyendo en generaciones de músicos.
