Vapnet
The Swedish indie pop ensemble Vapnet's song "Kalla Mig," released on their debut EP, 2005's Ge Dom Vald (Give Them Violence), earned regular rotation on Swedish Radio P3 the summer it was released and went on to became a hit with the Swedish indie crowd. Headed up by Siberia's Martin Abrahamsson and backed by the sprightly multi-instrumental talents of Martin Hanberg (also of Siberia), Anna Modin, Philip Gates (Days), David Hansson, Stefan Stromberg, Per-Olof Stjernered, Jesper Hedin, and David Nygard, the veritable indie pop army that is Vapnet formulated a whimsical, almost cartoony sound that nodded to the Concretes and I'm from Barcelona. Vapnet released their debut full-length, Jag Vet Hur Man Väntar (I Know How to Wait), the following spring, which was followed quickly by "Thoméegränd," the lead single from that album. "Thoméegränd" followed in the footsteps of "Kalla Mig," earning quite a bit of radio play throughout Sweden. Något Dåligt Nytt Har Hänt, a mini-album, followed in 2007; the album featured guest vocals by Jens Lekman. Vapnet's third full-length and first studio album, Döda Fallet, came out in 2008.
