Charles Mouton
Not much information is avalable concerning the life or music of Mouton. Much is conjecture but it is thought that his youth was spent in service to the court of Savoy in Turin. He possibly studied with Gaultier. Definitively he settled in Paris in 1678 and in 1691 was referred to as a teacher of the lute. Milleran, Richee, and Mlle. Edelinck were among his pupils. Mouton composed specifically for the lute and was one of the last great seventeenth century French lutenists.
