Jessica Folcker's debut album is a collection of slick, radio-ready Swedish dance-pop, the likes of which could be heard from any number of pop singers in the late '90s. Indeed, songs like "I Do" and the Diane Warren-penned ballad "If I Ever See Heaven Again" could easily have appeared on one of the first two Britney Spears albums. None of this is a bad thing, and if the music here is fairly indistinct, then it's raised above mediocrity by Folcker's mature, throaty vocals, which lend the international hit "Tell Me What You Like" a knowing sexuality that a lesser singer such as Spears would have struggled to convey. The songwriting, primarily by Max Martin and Denniz Pop, who worked with the likes of the Backstreet Boys, Spears, and Robyn around the same time, generally reflects Folcker's vocal maturity. Highlights include the ballad "How Will I Know Who You Are" and the funky, musically sparse closer, "Private Eye." Some of the album tracks are a little samey, but there's no outright filler. A strong album from one of the more interesting pop vocalists of the period.
