Acerca del álbum

«Händel goes wild» suena como «Handel se suelta» y en efecto, hemos de reconocer que en este álbum firmado por Christina Pluhar, Handel se suelta a más no poder. La arpista, tiorbista y laudista austriaca agarró un puñado de arias, movimientos de conciertos y oberturas de Handel (y algo de Vivaldi) y los entregó no solo a los músicos barrocos del conjunto L’Arpeggiata, sino también a media docena de músicos de jazz de todos los estilos. Así, la relectura de las obras barrocas es sucesivamente manouche [o jazz gitano], klezmer, salsa, New Orleans, lounge, blues etc., que cada oyente podrá amar o detestar según su propio grado de adaptabilidad. Obviamente, el uso del clarinete y del piano en este lenguaje puede resultar desconcertante… El principio de Pluhar es sencillo: Handel recuperó, remodeló, alteró, maquilló, saqueó, reescribió, obras suyas y de otros compositores, siempre con su pluma inimitable y en el estilo de su época más inmediata. Siendo así ¿por qué no hacer lo mismo hoy día? En cualquier caso, esta mezcla de instrumentos y voces barrocas con instrumentos y géneros musicales del siglo XX es de lo más alucinante. Entre los artistas invitados, cabe señalar al clarinetista Gianluigi Trovesi, al pianista Francesco Turrisi y al contrabajista Boris Schmidt en el ámbito del jazz, y también al contratenor Valer Sabadus y a la soprano Nuria Rial. © SM/Qobuz
