En 2011 se dio a conocer que los cuatro miembros originales de The Darkness estaban por grabar un nuevo disco, y el resultado, Hot Cakes (lanzado en 2012), sin duda merece ser saludado con los cuernos del heavy metal bien en alto. El número de ritmos de blues-rock estilo AC/DC presentes en el álbum se corresponde en igual medida con el de melodías resplandecientes y certeras, diseñadas especialmente para encender la célula feliz de tu cerebro.
