Además de estar formado en su mayor parte por canciones más apacibles que animadas, el onceavo álbum de estudio de los Pet Shop Boys es un trabajo estructurado de manera muy peculiar, pues recién anuncia su tema central con el tema número cuatro, una tonadilla aparentemente descartable de dos minutos y medio titulada "Your Early Stuff". Los momentos más irresistibles de los Pet Shop Boys son a menudo también los más maliciosos, y si bien la excelente "Ego Music" logra el perfecto balance entre dicha y rencor, Elysium es asimismo el álbum de Pet Shop Boys que contiene "Winner", el modesto y a la vez triunfal sencillo para los Juegos Olímpicos. El pegadizo "A Face Like That" es el producto de una ganadora combinación de estilos, mientras que otras partes del álbum ofrecen un incómodo malabarismo entre falta de confianza en sí mismo y espectacularidad, que parece sugerir que Elysium revelará sus respuestas con sucesivas escuchas, un poco como Behaviour. Elysium es un interesante, amargo comunicado desde bambalinas dirigido a los conocedores del grupo, interrumpido por algunos grandiosos momentos que dan toda la impresión de haber sido hechos por encargo.

Presentación del Álbum

Además de estar formado en su mayor parte por canciones más apacibles que animadas, el onceavo álbum de estudio de los Pet Shop Boys es un trabajo estructurado de manera muy peculiar, pues recién anuncia su tema central con el tema número cuatro, una tonadilla aparentemente descartable de dos minutos y medio titulada "Your Early Stuff". Los momentos más irresistibles de los Pet Shop Boys son a menudo también los más maliciosos, y si bien la excelente "Ego Music" logra el perfecto balance entre dicha y rencor, Elysium es asimismo el álbum de Pet Shop Boys que contiene "Winner", el modesto y a la vez triunfal sencillo para los Juegos Olímpicos. El pegadizo "A Face Like That" es el producto de una ganadora combinación de estilos, mientras que otras partes del álbum ofrecen un incómodo malabarismo entre falta de confianza en sí mismo y espectacularidad, que parece sugerir que Elysium revelará sus respuestas con sucesivas escuchas, un poco como Behaviour. Elysium es un interesante, amargo comunicado desde bambalinas dirigido a los conocedores del grupo, interrumpido por algunos grandiosos momentos que dan toda la impresión de haber sido hechos por encargo.
