El amor es una cosa simple es la versión en español de L'amore è una cosa semplice, el quinto álbum de Tiziano Ferro, uno de los más famosos cantantes de música ligera italiana de la última década. Esta edición para el mercado latino y los Estados Unidos fue publicada algunos meses después de la italiana y contiene los mismos catorce temas del álbum original, aunque nueve de ellos están cantados en español. Entre estos se destaca el dúo inédito con la cantante madrileña Malú en el tema que da nombre a la placa. El disco conserva cuatro canciones en italiano, así como "Karma", el dúo con John Legend que no es otra cosa que la versión en inglés de "Smeraldo". El álbum fue grabado en Los Ángeles con sesionistas de la talla de Mike Landau y Vinnie Colaiuta.
