Vilma Palma E Vampiros
Vilma Palma e Vampiros (also sometimes shortened to Vilma Palma) is an Argentine rock band from the city of Rosario, Santa Fe. The group has been active since the early 1990s. Though the group has gone through a number of lineup changes through the course of their career, the creative core of the band is singer and songwriter Mario “Pájaro” Gómez. Mario Gómez decided to start a new musical project with his former Identi-Kit bandmate Jorge Risso, aiming for a more pop-rock sound. The group released their first album Vilma Palma e Vampiros (also known in some territories as La Pachanga) in 1991. The album was a smashing success, anchored by the song “La Pachanga” which became a hit throughout Latin America. This album was followed by their second full-length titled 3980 (1993); this album was also a tremendous hit throughout Mexico and South America, spawning radio hits such as “Auto Rojo” and “Verano Traidor.” In 1994, Vilma Palma e Vampiros released their third full-length album, Fondo Profundo, which also reached a similar level of success as their previous releases. Over the course of the following years, the group released Sepia Blanco y Negro (1995), Ángeles y Demonios (1996), and the live album En Vivo (1997), which contains live versions of the band’s biggest hits. In the following decade, Vilma Palma e Vampiros continued releasing new music, mixing rock, pop, and Latin American rhythms to create albums such as 2002’s Vuelve a Comenzar and 2018’s Boomerang.
