Vetcho lolas
Vetcho Lolas, whose civil name is Hervé Bié Gnimozer, was born on May 13, 1980 in Yopougon. From an early age, he was immersed in the world of music: his father, Joe Paolo, was a musician, notably percussionist for Kéké Kassiry, an Ivorian funk musician and singer. Vetcho Lolas quickly made a name for himself on the Ivorian scene, specializing as a coupé-décalé dj in many of Abidjan's maquis. However, while he enjoyed djing, the desire to produce arrived, as it did for many coupé-décalé figures of his era (the early 2000s). With the dance group Las Lolas, Vetcho Lolas unveiled his first album, Couvre-Feu. Despite its coupé-décalé sound, the album failed to live up to expectations. He went on to produce other singles, such as "La Moulance" and "La Gbèlèche", produced in 2007, which brought a new concept to the style. The following year, in 2008, Vetcho Lolas made a name for himself as one of the leading producers of coupé-décalé. With the hit "Shamakuana" , featured on the album La Shamakuana, the producer trumpeted the charts and got audiences dancing to new sounds. A true concept, the track led to a dance of the same name, regularly referred to as "the bluffers' dance". Following the success of his flagship track, Vetcho Lolas took a back seat in his personal artistic career. He devoted himself to producing and promoting young talent, while keeping his finger on the pulse of new music with songs like "Je Veux Bara" (2017) featuring DJ Arafat, "Mon Nom " (2021) and "J'ai Compris" (2022).
