Tony Kakkar

The Bollywood vocalist Tony Kakkar was born in Rishikesh on April 9, 1984. Raised in a musical family whose children included playback singer Sonu Kakkar and pop star Neha Kakkar, he began performing at jagratas as a child. After moving with sister Neha Kakkar to Mumbai in 2004, Tony Kakkar started working as a lyricist and composer, forming a songwriting partnership with film director Sandeep Chowta along the way. He made his musical debut with "Good Boys Bad Boys," which appeared in the 2012 film Mr. Bhatti on Chutti, then rose to greater prominence with his contributions to the Creature 3D soundtrack. Released in 2014, the film notably featured his first hit, "Sawan Aaya Hai." One year later, he co-founded the record label Desi Music Factory and contributed two songs to the Ek Paheli Leela soundtrack. While continuing to release solo material like 2015's "Maa Tu Bataa," 2016's "Khuda Bhi Jab," and 2017's "Chaand Mera Naraaz Hai," he also maintained a healthy presence in the Bollywood world, with highlights including "Mohabbat Nasha Hai" (from 2018's Hate Story 4), "Dheeme Dheeme" (from 2019's Pati Patni Aur Woh), and "Ooh La La" (from 2020's Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan). 2021 marked his busiest year to date, with Tony Kakkar composing six songs for the Tuesdays and Fridays soundtrack and releasing a string of popular duets — including "Number Likh" (featuring Nikki Tamboli) and "Booty Shake" (featuring actress Hansika Motwani) — as a solo act.
