After earning his musical degree from the University of Manchester, Theo Travis pursued a career in music. In 2006, he became a member of Soft Machine when they were performing and recording under the name Soft Machine Legacy. Theo Travis began collaborating with guitarist and King Crimson leader Robert Fripp, releasing several albums as Travis-Fripp including Thread (2008), Follow (2012), and Discretion (2014). His association with Gong ended in 2010 although his session work continued with The Tangent, No Man, Steven Wilson, Francis Dunnery, Bass Communion, and many others.
