Patricia Janeckova

Born June 18, 1998, in Münchberg, Bavaria, Germany, Patricia Janečková was a Slovak soprano who came to international prominence in 2010 after winning the Czech-Slovak television show Talentmania. Her musical journey began in the Czech Republic when she started singing at the age of four. After primary school, she attended the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrova, Czech Republic, where she studied voice. She made her live debut with the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra at the Antonin Dvorák Theatre in Ostrova. At the age of 12, she gained attention by competing and ultimately winning the popular Czech-Slovak show Talentmania. After receiving more than one million votes, Patricia Janečková received news coverage around the world and began to build an international audience. She released her debut album, Patricia Janečková, in 2011 and continued to study and compete in other singing competitions. In 2014, she was the winner of the Concorso Internazionale di Musica Sacre, which was held in Rome, Italy. After years of studying and performing, she took a hiatus in February 2022 after she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent treatment throughout 2022 and released Christmas Album, a collaboration with oboist Vilém Veverka at the end of the year. After her treatment looked to be successful, she returned to performing for a brief time in 2023. However, her cancer returned and Patricia Janečková died on October 1, 2023, at the age of 25.
