Paolo Noël

Born in Montreal (Canada) on March 4, 1929 and died on April 17, 2022 in Saint-Pacôme (Canada), Paolo Noël was a Quebec pop singer and actor. In 1948, he won a Tino Rossi imitation contest on the Montreal radio station CKAC. In 1951, he recorded four of his own compositions, including " Belle étoile d'amour " and " Puisque je t'aime ", and worked for Montreal radio station CKVL. In 1953 and 1954, he performed in several Montreal cabarets. In 1955, he made his television debut on Radio-Canada's Music-Hall. In 1956, he scored a hit on Quebec radio with a single containing the songs " Ma Prière " and " Vierge Marie ". In 1958, he received the trophy for best performer in French Canada from the Samedi-Dimanche newspaper. In 1959, he travelled to Paris to perform in a number of clubs, at the Théâtre Mogador and on Parisian television. In the 1960s, he placed several songs in the Quebec radio charts, including " Le Bateau de Tahiti " and " La Chanson du petit voilier ". In 1966, he won TV-Hebdo magazine's Most Popular Artist award, and the weekly Télé-Radiomonde named him Monsieur Radio-télévision in 1968. In 1973 and 1974, he enjoyed success with the songs " Flip, flop, fly ", " Flouche, flouche, flouche " and " T'as donc des beaux bip bop ". He launched the humorous Christmas album Bouchon Et Ses Écureuils , featuring his tramp character Bouchon, in 1978. In the 1980s, Paolo Noël published two autobiographical stories. He launched the third volume of his life story in 2012.
