MOON JONG UP
Jongup is a South Korean singer who began his career as a member of the chart-topping boy band B.A.P., then mounted a solo career following the group's breakup in 2019. He was born as Moon Jong-up in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province, on February 6, 1995. A talented dancer from a young age, he joined B.A.P. in 2012 and enjoyed a successful run with the band, whose records First Sensibility, Noir, One Shot, and Badman all topped the Billboard World Albums chart. When B.A.P. disbanded in early 2019, Jongup remained the public eye by appearing in the film The Lost Village and the reality TV show Signhere, both of which were released that same year. He also launched his career as a solo artist, drawing upon in the influence of his musical idol, American singer Chris Brown, to create a diverse sound influenced by K-pop, funk, and R&B. "Headache," his debut single, was released in May 2020 and peaked at Number 23 on the Gaon charts. One year later, Jongup collaborated with another boy band alum, Viini, on the single "Venus," which was released that February as part of the soundtrack to the South Korean television series Mr. Queen.
