Moelogo
The first taste of British-Nigerian singer/songwriter Moelogo's fusion of Afrobeat, R&B, and hip-hop came in 2013 with his breakout single "Pangolo." He was born Mohammed Animashaun in Lagos, and moved to London in 2001. At 14, he joined the school choir where he discovered his love of singing and later became involved with London's Starlight Music Academy, which afforded him the opportunity to work with British rappers Kano and Chipmunk. In 2011, he traveled to Gambia to perform in front of 60,000 people with the reggae artist Busy Signal. Changing his name to Moelogo he put out his first single, the club-oriented "Pangolo," and later in 2013 released his debut EP Moe Is My Name, Music Is My Logo. The following year the young artist released the single "Baddest," which featured London rapper Giggs. His early achievements were honored at both the 2015 and 2016 MOBO Awards, where he was nominated for Best African Act. 2016 also saw the release of his sophomore EP, Ireti, which revealed a gentler side to his Afrobeat syntheses, and "Penkele" was later remixed by Davido and Sarkodie. In 2017 Moelogo put out two singles from what would be his third EP: the gentle "Shine Your Light" and the Tiggs Da Author-featuring "Sometimes I Pray." That same year he also appeared on the Jonas Blue single "We Could Go Back."
