Dominique Blanc-Francard
Dominique Blanc-Francard was born in 1944 in the Paris suburb of Rueil-Malmaison. He set his sights on music from an early age, making his debut as bassist with the group Les Pingouins, whose short-lived career consisted of four singles recorded between 1962 and 1963. Persevering, he turned to sound engineering and production, joining the prestigious Château d'Hérouville studios between 1970 and 1973, where for three years he contributed to the recording of several rock classics by Pink Floyd, Elton John, David Bowie, Cat Stevens and T.Rex, drawing inspiration from the techniques of such distinguished colleagues as Tony Visconti, Paul Samwell-Smith and Gus Dudgeon. It was in Hérouville that Dominique Blanc-Francard recorded his first opus, Ailleurs, in 1972. Thereafter, he continued his career, collecting awards for his work with numerous French variety artists. Father of Hubert Blanc-Francard (of the group Cassius) and Mathieu Blanc-Francard (Sinclair), Dominique Blanc-Francard took another step forward in 1995 when he decided to open the Labomatic studio in Paris. In 2016, at the age of 72, he released a new opus entitled It's a Teenager Dream, for which he invited some fifteen artists, including Stephan Eicher, Benjamin Biolay, Jean-Louis Aubert and François Hardy. All agreed to help the producer realize his "childhood dream" of recording the songs that inspired him to devote his life to music.
