Bondan Prakoso

Bondan Prakoso began his career as an Indonesian child singer in 1988, earning national acclaim for his recording of Papa T Bob's "Si Lumba-Lumba" before exploring rock and hip-hop influences during his adulthood. Born in Jakarta on May 8, 1982, he became a nationally-celebrated pop singer at six years old, releasing a total of eight albums between 1988 and 1995. He then shifted directions with Funky Kopral, a rock band whose debut album, Funchopat, was released by Universal Music Indonesia in 1999. Funkadelic Rhythm and Distortion followed in 2000 and earned Funky Kopral the title of "Best Alternative Group" from the Anugerah Musik Indonesia, their country's equivalent of the Grammy Awards. Prakoso left the band after 2003's Misteri Cinta and began partnering with the hip-hop group Fade2Black. Working together as Bondan Prakoso & Fade 2 Black, the rap-rock supergroup debuted with 2005's Respect and quickly became a popular Indonesian act, earning an AMI Award for "Best Rap Group" in 2008 and charting three Indonesian singles with their 2010 record, For All. After releasing the group's fourth album, Respect & Unity For All, in 2012, Prakoso resumed his prolific solo career, combining his pop, rock, and rap influences into releases like 2014's Generasiku EP and 2020's Sama Rapuhnya.
