Wo steht Max Richter hier? Sinfonie, dem großen Meisterwerk dieser Stilrichtung. Voices greift in jedem Titel die „Allgemeine Erklärung der Menschenrechte“ aus dem Jahr 1948 auf, die in einer von der amerikanischen Schauspielerin Kiki Layne revidierten Fassung rezitiert wird. Max Richter hat sein Werk für ein überwiegend aus Bässen und Violoncelli bestehendes Orchester geschaffen: ein passendes Medium, um die Probleme der heutigen Gesellschaft zu reflektieren.
