Rund vier Jahre nahmen sich die Editors für ihr viertes Studioalbum Zeit und markierten damit 2013 eine weitere Zäsur in ihrem Sound. Stellte das vorangegangene Album (In This Light And On This Evening) noch eine Verneigung vor Synthesizern und Industrial dar, kehrte die aus Birmingham stammende Band auf The Weight of Your Love zurück zu den Klängen des Indie-Rocks. Markant auch der Wandel der Texte, denn obwohl sie noch immer Weltschmerz und Melancholie in sich bergen, besingt Tom Smith durchaus das Positive im Leben. Allerdings ist das Dunkle der Vorgänger an manchen Stellen durchaus noch zu erkennen, beispielsweise in der ersten Singleauskopplung "A Ton of Love", die an Depeche Mode erinnert.
