Naomi Cooke Johnson

A powerhouse country vocalist with the songwriting skills to match, Naomi Cooke Johnson earned accolades with the rootsy, pop-country trio Runaway June before launching a solo career. Her debut single, the upbeat anthem "Girls of Summer," appeared in 2023. Raised in poverty in rural Virginia, Cooke Johnson embraced music at an early age, finding both solace and purpose. Always on the move, her family eventually settled in Florida, where she met Nashville songwriter Rob Hatch, who convinced her to relocate to Music City. Working odd jobs, writing songs, and playing honky tonks, she earned a publishing deal after co-writing Tyler Farr's 2015 hit "Better in Boots." That same year, she co-founded Runaway June alongside Jennifer Wayne and Hannah Mulholland. Cooke Johnson co-wrote many of the group's hits, including their 2018 breakthrough "By My Own Drinks," before going solo in 2021. She released "Girls of Summer" in early 2023, with the semi-autobiographical "Livin' Ain't Killed Me Yet" arriving later that year.
