Masumi Nagasawa
A performer on the modern concert harp, the 18th century single-action pedal harp, the Irish harp, and the ancient Japanese kugo, Masumi Nagasawa is versatile musician, arranger, and educator. She studied modern harp with Phia Berghout and 18th century harp with Mara Galassi at the Conservatorium Maastricht, where she earned her solo diploma and the Prix d'Excellence. Nagasawa has been a guest artist at festivals, including the Salzburg Music Festival, the Geneva Music Festival, the Akiyoshidai International Music Festival, and the Torino Milano Festival Internazionale della Musica, and a juror at competitions, such as the Concours de harpe Lily Laskine in Paris. She has performed with several early music ensembles, playing 18th century harp with the Academy of Ancient Music, the Freiburger Barockorchester, the Balthasar-Neuman Ensemble, Kammerorchester Basel, and the Netherlands Bach Society, as well as accompanying sopranos Kiri Te Kanawa and Cecilia Bartoli in recitals. Nagasawa has recorded for EtCetera Records, Channel Classics, and BIS, among other labels.
