Los Lara

Oaxacan family band Los Lara found success in the early 2020s for their guitar-driven strain of Regional Mexican music that blends sierreño with keyboards and other modern touches. Breakout songs like "¿Dónde Estarás?" and "Fumando Mota" helped send their 2021 release Desde la Raíz to number 25 on the Latin Albums chart. Bandleader Liborio Lara and his sons Carlos and Edu Lara released their debut album, Prometo, in 2017, though it took a few years for the group's music to find a wider audience. In 2021 they traveled to Nuevo León and were signed to the Monterrey-based Serca Music label, which released the seven-song EP La Polvadera. Later that year, Los Lara had a viral hit with "Fumando Mota," which appeared on their album Desde la Raíz alongside additional hits like "Tú" and "En la Nube." In 2022, the group built on their momentum with the single "Quién Soy Yo."
