Friedel Hensch

Friedel Hensch and the Cyprys are a German pop group founded in 1945. The group celebrated its greatest successes in the 1950s. As Tante Fröhlich und die Hutzelmännchen, they also released several children's songs in the early 1950s. The singer Friedel Hensch had already enjoyed some success as a singer before the Second World War. The group celebrated its first successes in 1946 with regular shows at the Ballhaus "Trichter". Alongside Friedel Hensch, Werner Cyprys, Karl Geithner and Heinz Bartels were also members of the group. During a performance in the summer of 1949, the quartet came to the attention of Kurt Richter, the head of the Polydor record company. In the same year, the record Mit der Zeit lernst du es auch. As was customary at the time, Friedel Hensch and the Cyprys appeared in a number of hit movies at the beginning of the 1950s. From the mid-1950s in particular, the group landed several hits in the German charts, including "Der Fremdenlegionär" (1954), "Heideröslein" (1954), "Oh Jägersmann" (1956), "Solang' die Sterne glühn" (1957) and "Komm zurück in das Tal meiner Träume" (1959). Their song "Heideröslein" remains their only number 1 hit in Germany and reaches gold status. Friedel Hensch and the Cyprys celebrated their last major success in 1962 with the song "Der Mond von Wanne-Eickel". The band made their last TV appearance together in October 1970.
