Bebi Philip

N'guessan Bebi Philippe Amessan, better known as Bebi Philip, was born on May 18, 1988 in Treichville, Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. With his father a musician, music quickly became an integral part of Bebi Philip's youth, starting with the church orchestra, where he learned to play guitar. Involved in his father's band, he then joined the Lycée d'Enseignement Artistique and set his sights on a career in music. He started out in the music world as an arranger when he finished his studies. It wasn't until 2009 that Bebi Philip's voice was heard on "Swinguita", which, despite its minor success, laid the foundations for the coupé-décalé style championed by its author. While he honed his technique and compositions, Philip assisted some of the biggest names in Ivorian music: he played guitar and arranged Kédjévara Le Meteorman 's album (which included the hit "Tchoucou Tchoucou"), and worked alongside Dream Team DJ and Molaré. As he honed his own vision of music, 2013 saw the release of Joie De Vivre, a debut album on which the featuring with Debordeau, "On S'Éclate", was a hit. Bebi Philip went on to enjoy a string of successes, including the 2015 singles "Balaumba", "Move Dadass" and "Mamalôko", as well as prestigious collaborations, both as arranger and on featurings (with Koffi Olomidé on "On Va Piétiner" in 2016). With a reputation that now precedes him, Bebi Philip unveils his long-awaited second album to the public in 2020. Entitled On The Track, it breaks new ground in his coupé décalé style, with careful electronic production, and hits the bull's-eye with tracks like "Judas", "La Vraie Force" and "Blô Blô". A major player on the Ivorian music scene, Bebi Philip intends to be part of its history, and continues to seduce his public with "Le Secret", presented in 2022.
