Twenty-five years after the release of his masterpiece Lunatic Harness, Mike Paradinas, alias µ-Ziq, the owner of the well-known label Planet Mu, has returned to the jungle sounds of the late 90s to release Goodbye. This six track EP is the first in a series of releases by Paradinas this year, all centred around the 25th Anniversary Edition of Lunatic Harness. This EP offers a sequence of remixes that combine kicks and amens in a way that can only be described as legendary. It opens with an incredible VIP version of Goodbye on which the London producer shows his unrivalled mastery of amens, as well as his artistic vision when it comes to adding melodies with weightless pianos, vocal chops and acid synths. A cheeky, meticulous production, followed by a more raucous remix by DJ Manny which has a colder sound and tangled amens. Xylitol’s whistling synth offers a more downtempo, almost rustic remix of Goodbye. The muffled remix of Rave Whistle by RP Boo isn’t bad either, nor is the insane take on Giddy All Over by Jlin, a true idol of the Footwork scene in Chicago. © Smaël Bouaici/Qobuz
