江蕙

Often hailed as the "Queen of Taiwanese Pop," singer Jody Chiang released 60 albums between 1981 and 2015, winning more than a dozen Golden Melody Awards along the way. Chiang was born on September 1, 1961, in the Taiwanese township of Xikou, Chiayi. Tokyo Holiday, her debut album, was released to Japanese audiences in 1981, followed later that same year by Girls With Eighteen Flowers. Both albums were released under her original stage name, "Jiang Shuhui." She adopted a new alias, "Jiang Hui," for 1983's You Shouldn't Despise Me, which marked her Taiwanese debut. By 1990, she'd become one of the country's biggest stars, winning "Best Female Singer" during the inaugural Golden Melody Awards that same year. Songs like 1993's "The Voice of the Drunken Heart," 2000's "Half Drunk and Half Sober," 2001's "Taiwan's Red Song," and 2003's "Red Line" all won additional Golden Melody Awards. After winning four consecutive Golden Melody Awards for "Best Taiwanese Female Singer," she announced her decision to remove herself from the category altogether in the hopes of drawing attention to newer artists. Nonetheless, she continued to win Gold Melody Awards for albums like 2009's Jia, You Are Firmly in Your Grasp and 2010's At That Time, I Wanted To Get Married. She announced her retirement in 2015 and toured Taiwan one last time before performing her final show that September. Nonetheless, songs like "六月茉莉" continue to enjoy popularity in Taiwan, China, Malaysia, and other Asian countries.
