荒山亮

Over the course of a long, diverse career, Ric Huang has built an international audience as an award-winning T-pop vocalist, Mandopop singer/songwriter, and television actor. He was born as "Jan Shan-liang" in Taichung, Taiwan, on either September 6, 1968, or September 6, 1973. Before launching his solo career as a musician, he began working with the Taiwanese puppet show Pili in 2000, composing a number of original shows for the television program and often providing vocals for the lead character's musical performances. He began releasing his own albums as the decade progressed, making his debut with the Mandarin album Ruthless Confession in 2005. Another Mandopop release, Resurrection, followed two years later. Using the interchangeable stage names of "Ric Huang" and "Rich Jan," he shifted directions during the 2010s and started recording exclusively in Taiwanese. His first Taiwanese album, Heavenly Wasteland and Old, earned a nomination for "Best Taiwanese Album" and an award for "Best Taiwanese Male Singer" at the 2012 Golden Melody Awards. Released in 2013, the album While I Can Remember continued his streak of commercial and critical successes, earning Golden Melody Award nominations for "Best Taiwanese Male Singer Award" and "Best Taiwanese Album" once again. Live For You and the compilation album New Wave of Taiwanese were both released in 2015, followed by 2017's The Gramophone of Life and 2020's Waiting For a Good Day.
