Les Beach Boys lancent les festivités pour leurs 60 ans de carrière avec une gigantesque rétrospective de trois disques et 80 titres remastérisés dans les règles de l’art. Il y a en effet largement de quoi faire avec le groupe formé en 1961 à Hawthorne en Californie autour des frères Wilson, qui a sorti la bagatelle de neuf albums entre 1963 et 1965 ! Une rétrospective qui se base sur la box Sounds of Summer: The Very Best of The Beach Boys sortie en 2003 (une trentaine de titres à l’époque), et qui contient évidemment tous les tubes (Get Around, Surfin’ USA, les blues-rock Surfin Safari ou Fun Fun Fun, l’inoxydable Good Vibrations…) de ceux qui ont activement participé à la construction du “californian dream”. Leur premier single et premier hit Surfin, un doo wop paru en décembre 1961, a immédiatement attiré l’attention de Capitol Records, qui allait en faire une insatiable machine à cash et à rêves. “C’est incroyable de se dire qu’il y a soixante ans, on sortait notre premier album Surfin’ Safari”, explique le groupe dans un communiqué commun. “En 62, on était juste des gamins et jamais on n’aurait pu imaginer que notre musique aurait autant d’impact et serait redécouverte de génération en génération.” Un coffret supervisé par les archivistes officiels des Beach boys Mark Linettand et Alan Boyd, et qui tombe à point nommé pour l’été. © Smaël Bouaici/Qobuz

Les Beach Boys lancent les festivités pour leurs 60 ans de carrière avec une gigantesque rétrospective de trois disques et 80 titres remastérisés dans les règles de l’art. Il y a en effet largement de quoi faire avec le groupe formé en 1961 à Hawthorne en Californie autour des frères Wilson, qui a sorti la bagatelle de neuf albums entre 1963 et 1965 ! Une rétrospective qui se base sur la box Sounds of Summer: The Very Best of The Beach Boys sortie en 2003 (une trentaine de titres à l’époque), et qui contient évidemment tous les tubes (Get Around, Surfin’ USA, les blues-rock Surfin Safari ou Fun Fun Fun, l’inoxydable Good Vibrations…) de ceux qui ont activement participé à la construction du “californian dream”. Leur premier single et premier hit Surfin, un doo wop paru en décembre 1961, a immédiatement attiré l’attention de Capitol Records, qui allait en faire une insatiable machine à cash et à rêves. “C’est incroyable de se dire qu’il y a soixante ans, on sortait notre premier album Surfin’ Safari”, explique le groupe dans un communiqué commun. “En 62, on était juste des gamins et jamais on n’aurait pu imaginer que notre musique aurait autant d’impact et serait redécouverte de génération en génération.” Un coffret supervisé par les archivistes officiels des Beach boys Mark Linettand et Alan Boyd, et qui tombe à point nommé pour l’été. © Smaël Bouaici/Qobuz
