Steven Ma

Born as "Ma Chi-wai" in Hong Kong on October 26, 1971, Steven Ma is a Cantpop singer and award-winning actor who launched his entertainment career in 1993. That year, he starred in the TVB series Mind Your Own Business and also placed first in a Hong Kong-based singing competition, which resulted in a record deal with Warner Music. Lucky is to Meet You, his debut album, was released that December, with the song's title track becoming a Number 1 hit in Hong Kong. A second single, "Night Long Dreams," also cracked the Top 10. After releasing albums like 1994's Heading Towards You Now, 1996's I Was Also Drunk Before, and 1997's Honey, he became a fixture on the Cantopop charts, earning Top 5 hits with "Rose and Jia Ming" (from 1999's Lifestyle), "New Cell Era" (from 2001's Give Me 3'07"), "Steve" (from 2001's I Care Most), and "Spoil" (from 2002's Don't Shut Up and Spoil Yourself). After taking a break from music to focus on his acting career, he returned to the charts during the 2010s with another string of popular singles. 2013's Cherish yielded hits like "Heart Photo" and "Tired For Mother," while the following year's Cherish II produced the Number 2 hit "God Willing" and the Number 1 smash "Dad." Steven Ma continued releasing new material during the rest of the decade, often covering songs by his favorite artists, then kicked off another decade of music with the 2021 single "Exchange Love."
