Master Peace
Under the Master Peace moniker, London-born artist Peace Oakzie draws on the influence of 2000s-era indie cool and transforms it into an energetic and captivating new sound. Master Peace delivered melodic songwriting, huge beats, distorted electroclash basslines, and an updated take on infectious synth pop (all underscored by the trappings of English grime culture) on his 2024 studio debut How to Make a Master Peace.
Peace grew up in the South London town of Morden, England, and first became interested in music through the guidance of his brother, rapper YS Tekdinner. After first being inspired by the grime scene, he branched out musically into more '80s pop and aughts rock influences, and a hybrid of these different reference points came through on his earliest singles under the Master Peace stage name, released in 2018. He put out a handful of standalone tracks, gaining some attention for the rave-flavored 2020 tune "Eyes on You," and collecting various songs on the 2020 EP Love Bites. After similar EP releases like 2021's Public Display of Affection and 2023's Peace of Mind, Oakzie released his first fully realized studio effort, How to Make a Master Peace, in 2024. The album included standout track "I Might Be Fake," which featured a hook sung by British vocalist/producer Georgia.
