The Gordons' debut effort was perhaps understandably incredibly rough, and certainly at points the most straightforwardly punk thing the three ever did. That said, there's still enough of the artier elements that would come to the fore on the self-titled album a year later to warrant a listen. Vocals this time around are breathlessly delivered or yelped, while the emphasis is on rocking out, though with a tendency toward the trancier side of the Buzzcocks than the poppier, say. Certainly "Future Shock" itself finds the rhythm section hitting a swift groove sweeping all before it, while the lyrics consist of little but the title shouted out again and again. "Adults and Children" is the other winner on this three-song effort, with an astonishingly abrasive guitar part alternating with the high-pitched singing. Oddly enough, it was also the song that provided the basis for the Gordons' debut video.
