Clock

Founded in 1993, Clock was a Eurodance / hip house project formed by dance music DJ / producer Stu Allen and house / trance producer Pete Pritchard. Recruiting rapper ODC MC (real name: Marcus Thomas) and singer Tinka (real name: Lorna Saunders), the group released their debut single, “Holding On,” in 1993. A promising start, the single reached Number 66 in the UK Singles chart. They scored Top 40 hits with “The Rhythm” and “Keep the Fires Burning” in 1994 before hitting Number 7 with “Axel F,” their reinterpretation of Harold Faltermeyer’s 1984 hit taken from the motion picture Beverly Hills Cop. Their next single, a cover of Tag Team’s “Whoomph! (There It Is),” was their most successful single, reaching Number 4 in 1995. Clock’s debut album, It’s Time…, hit the Top 30 when it was released in 1995. The group’s second album, About Time 2, was released in 1997 and included their hit covers of the Four Seasons’ “Oh What A Night,” Hot Chocolate’s “You Sexy Thing” (retitled “U Sexy Thing”), and KC & the Sunshine Band’s “That’s the Way I Like It.” Clock’s last Top 20 single was their 1998 cover of Mick Jackson’s “Blame It on the Boogie,” a song that was a hit for the Jacksons in 1978. Clock’s third album, Boogie Sound, was only released in Japan in 1999. Although the group remained moderately successful in Japan and Europe, internal conflicts caused a rift in the group, and they split in 2001. Founding member Stu Allen died on September 22, 2022.
