Out of all of his albums, Cajun Saturday Night ranks as one of D.L. Menard's least Cajun-influenced. Throughout the album, Menard tears through Cajun-informed honky tonk numbers, singing entirely in English and playing with a crack band that includes Buck White, Ricky Skaggs, and Jerry Douglas. Menard re-records some of his Cajun songs in English, while he jacks up five Hank Williams songs with New Orleans instruments. It's an exciting, intoxicating listen and, for country fans reluctant to explore Cajun, it's an easy introduction to the genre.
