Lisa Simone
Daughter of the great jazz singer Nina Simone, Lisa Simone (b. 1962) enjoyed a nomadic childhood, moving from place to place with her mother, before embarking on a career in the US Army stationed in Germany. Passionate about singing and acting, in 1995 she joined the troupe of Jesus Christ Superstar, then Rent. After a stint with the Liqui Soul group, Lisa Simone continued her career in musical comedy(Aïda) and songwriting with Daughters of Soul. A first album in tribute to her mother, who died in 2003, Simone on Simone, was quietly released in 2008. September 2014 saw the release of a more personal jazz album, All Is Well, recorded in France with Hervé Samb, Reggie Washington and Sonny Troupé. The same team of musicians is reunited for the album My World, which follows in 2016.
