Conjurer
Midlands, U.K.-based extreme metal band Conjurer take a vigorous approach to crafting crushing music, pushing the sound in new directions at every opportunity. Emerging in 2018 with the critically acclaimed Mire, Conjurer returned in 2022 with their punishing sophomore effort Páthos.
The band formed when friends Brady Deeprose (guitar, vocals) and Dan Nightingale (guitar, vocals) were growing tired of their respective metalcore groups, and decided instead to join forces and pursue more extreme forms of metal. They quickly enlisted Jan Krause (drums) and Conor Marshall (bass) to form Conjurer. After making a splash on the live scene, they were snapped up by Holy Roar Records, going on to release their debut EP, I, in 2016. They recorded the EP in a relatively small amount of time, giving it a sense of urgency. However, for their debut full-length, 2019's Mire, they took their time honing the sound for a more polished listening experience that earned accolades both at home and abroad. The band inked a deal with Nuclear Blast ahead of the release of their wide-ranging sophomore effort. Combining elements of sludge, death, doom, black metal, and hardcore, the resulting Páthos appeared in 2022.
