Though Dick Gregory still has a fairly easygoing demeanor here, there's definitely more of a political edge to Dick Gregory Talks Turkey than on In Living Black and White. On the first side, Gregory talks about being the first black family in an all-white Chicago neighborhood and pokes fun at both white preconceptions and the NAACP with a list of dos and don'ts for newly integrated families. Side two shows Gregory looking into his past for instances of how race can tilt social equations (such as how the local shopkeeper would try to cheat him out of money or would give him rotten peaches to take home). It's still fairly non-confrontational, and Gregory's warm delivery and personality allow all people to feel welcome into his world, even when he's hammering home some very important political points.
