Die vorliegende Barbiere von Deutsche Grammophon ist eine Einspielung „di qualità, di qualità“ und tatsächlich von sehr großer Qualität. Sie wurde 1971 in London aufgenommen, als eines der ersten gemeinsamen Projekte von Claudio Abbado und dem Londoner Symphony Orchestra. Sie markiert auch den Beginn der philologischen Ausgabe durch Alberto Zedda von Rossinis Werken, dessen Partituren seit mehr als einem Jahrhundert durch schlechte Angewohnheiten verfälscht worden waren. Zusätze, an die man sich zu Unrecht gewöhnt hatte, wurden entfernt, bestimmte Schnitte und die ursprüngliche, feinsinnige Instrumentierung wurden wiederhergestellt, und vor allem wurde ohne Übertreibungen, mit einem natürlichen Sinn für Theatralik, gesungen und gespielt. Diese Verjüngungskur hat frischen Wind in das Meisterwerk eines 24-jährigen Genies gebracht.

Dieser Barbier ist einfach ideal! Eine Traumbesetzung an Sängern, die mit dem Repertoire bestens vertraut sind: Jeder ist genau an seinem Platz - von der durchtriebenen und frechen Rosina der Teresa Berganza bis zum raffinierten und schwungvollen Figaro des Hermann Prey über den frivolen Grafen des Luigi Alva und den närrischen Basilio, der von Paolo Montarsolo verkörpert wird. Wir bewundern einmal mehr die akkurate, gut geölte Maschinerie des rossinischen Theaters unter der lebendigen Leitung von Claudio Abbado. © François Hudry/Qobuz

Albumbeschreibung

Die vorliegende Barbiere von Deutsche Grammophon ist eine Einspielung „di qualità, di qualità“ und tatsächlich von sehr großer Qualität. Sie wurde 1971 in London aufgenommen, als eines der ersten gemeinsamen Projekte von Claudio Abbado und dem Londoner Symphony Orchestra. Sie markiert auch den Beginn der philologischen Ausgabe durch Alberto Zedda von Rossinis Werken, dessen Partituren seit mehr als einem Jahrhundert durch schlechte Angewohnheiten verfälscht worden waren. Zusätze, an die man sich zu Unrecht gewöhnt hatte, wurden entfernt, bestimmte Schnitte und die ursprüngliche, feinsinnige Instrumentierung wurden wiederhergestellt, und vor allem wurde ohne Übertreibungen, mit einem natürlichen Sinn für Theatralik, gesungen und gespielt. Diese Verjüngungskur hat frischen Wind in das Meisterwerk eines 24-jährigen Genies gebracht.

Dieser Barbier ist einfach ideal! Eine Traumbesetzung an Sängern, die mit dem Repertoire bestens vertraut sind: Jeder ist genau an seinem Platz - von der durchtriebenen und frechen Rosina der Teresa Berganza bis zum raffinierten und schwungvollen Figaro des Hermann Prey über den frivolen Grafen des Luigi Alva und den närrischen Basilio, der von Paolo Montarsolo verkörpert wird. Wir bewundern einmal mehr die akkurate, gut geölte Maschinerie des rossinischen Theaters unter der lebendigen Leitung von Claudio Abbado. © François Hudry/Qobuz

Max Richter, Aktivist der Neoklassik

Mit der Veröffentlichung seines neuen Albums Exiles, einer Reflexion über das Exil mit dem Baltic Sea Orchestra, hat sich der ikonoklastische Pionier der neoklassischen Bewegung Max Richter einmal mehr als einer der politisch engagiertesten Künstler der Musikszene positioniert. Selten hat ein Künstler eine so suggestive Instrumentalmusik geschaffen, die klassische und elektronische Musik, physische und emotionale Welten miteinander verbindet.

Wilhelm Backhaus, ein gigantisches Repertoire

Wilhelm Backhaus (1884-1969), Titan der deutschen klassischen Musik, wurde oft für streng und fantasielos gehalten. Sein immenses diskographisches Vermächtnis bei Decca, zu seiner Zeit noch eine Seltenheit, wird heute unter besten Bedingungen neu herausgegeben und trägt dazu bei, seinen allzu oft ungerechten Ruf aufzuwerten. Backhaus wirkt heute – von der allerersten Aufnahme eines Konzerts im Jahr 1909 (das stark gekürzte Klavierkonzert von Grieg) bis zu seinem letzten Konzert wenige Tage vor seinem Tod – dank seiner Texttreue und seiner schlichten Interpretationen, die den Komponisten bestmöglich gerecht werden, eigenartigerweise moderner als in der Vergangenheit.
