The group recorded a fair amount of material in the '60s, almost all of which is included on this 24-track anthology, which contains their sole album (from 1964) and several singles. They had no songwriting talent (only two of these tunes are originals); and they drifted rather aimlessly in search of an identity or style, stabbing at straight pop, folk-rock, and hard rock. Some Shel Talmy-produced numbers from 1966 are of mild interest, as are some nicely arranged folk-pop tunes from 1965 (which suffer from mediocre vocals), but even British Invasion completists will be unimpressed by this collection. As a final insult, the mix of "Tobacco Road" which leads off this set is notably inferior to the familiar hit vinyl version.
