Johann David Heinichen, das war der Komponist auf der Stelle, die Bach gerne gehabt hätte: Dresdner Hofkapellmeister. „Flavio Crispo“ komponierte er für den Karneval 1720, doch die italienischen Gesangsstars meuterten. Darauf wurde die gesamte italienische Oper aufgelöst, und Heinichen konzentrierte sich fortan auf die katholische Hofkirchenmusik. Fast 300 Jahre dauerte es, bis „Flavio Crispo“ in Stuttgart von Jörg Halubek und seinem Ensemble Il Gusto Barocco uraufgeführt wurde. „Flavio Crispo“ gehört zum Typus der Historienoper. Ein Machtkampf in Rom um die Kaiserwürde liefert den Hintergrund für ein kompliziertes Geflecht an amourösen Verwicklungen. Kaiser Costantino verurteilt seinen Sohn Flavio Crispo zum Tode, weil er sich seinen Plänen für eine Hochzeit widersetzt. Dieser Flavio Crispo ist aber alles andere als ein rebellischer Held, vielmehr ein melancholischer Gefühlsmensch mit einer Neigung zur Larmoyanz. In der Arie „Mio destino“ hört man Leandro Marziotte mit seiner phänomenal weichen, flexiblen Counterstimme, wie er sich fast heiter seinem Vater widersetzt. Ganz entscheidend zur jeweiligen Affektsituation trägt das Orchester bei. Zum gewaltigen Hörnergeschmetter ruft die lebensmüde Fausta (Alessandra Visentin) den Höllenhund Cerberus. Gleich danach kommt eine zarte Arie von Elena, Flavios Geliebter, mit anmutiger Lautenbegleitung, Pizzicato-Streichern und getupftem Orgelbass. Dana Marbach singt hier in prägnanter Deklamation und geschmackvoller Phrasierung ein Stück, das einem Johann Sebastian Bach zur Ehre gereicht hätte. Insgesamt wirkt diese Aufnahme extrem gut geprobt, variabel instrumentiert und auf einen fast schauspielerischen Sprachfluss hin orientiert.
