This record, not to be confused with the earlier British LP of the same name (which appeared in America six months earlier in modified form as Animals on Tour), isn't really a coherent album. Rather, it's a mishmash of then-recent hits ("We've Gotta Get Out of This Place," "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood"), leftover songs from the group's first two British LPs ("Roberta," "Story of Bo Diddley," etc.), and B-sides ("Club a Go-Go"), sort of the Animals' version of the Beatles' Yesterday and Today LP. It's something of a tribute to the group's strength, however, that even this Frankenstein monster of an album, sewn together from more than a year's worth of sessions is a powerful record in its own right.
