Décidément, les enfants de Chicago sont des plus précoces ! Après un premier album (Sunken) sorti en 2013, voici déjà le troisième opus ! Down In Heaven a été pensé et enregistré dans le calme de la Nouvelle-Angleterre, au bord d’un lac. Ainsi, le Massachusetts leur sert de lieu d’expérimentation et la maison dans laquelle le groupe réside a fait office de studio improvisé. Loin de l’effervescence des plus grands festivals pour lesquels ils ont joués, les membres s’entourent de R. Andrew Humphrey (co-producteur) et appellent John Agnello pour le mixage. En résulte un album au son rugueux, brut, où les guitares ont leur place garantie au soleil. Avec son parfois un son très british (Cold Lips…), les musiciens s’adonnent à des productions modernes malgré une atmosphère très vintage. Tous auteurs, les Twin Peaks conservent une belle cohérence entre leurs différents morceaux. Définitivement rock’n’roll. © AR/Qobuz
