Multicast Dynamics
Previously known for producing propulsive electro-techno as VC-118A and aquatic dub techno as Mohlao, Dutch producer and graphic designer Samuel van Dijk started Multicast Dynamics, a more immersive, experimental project, in 2011. The alias maintains the submerged, aquatic atmosphere of Mohlao, but forgoes beats in favor of deeper, more exploratory soundscapes that draw inspiration from nature as well as outer space. The first Multicast Dynamics album, Scape, focused on dry land, and was initially released on cassette by Finnish label Kaukana Väijyy Ambient in 2014. The following year, Denovali Records signed the project, re-releasing its debut simultaneously with its second album, the vast, oceanic Aquatic System. Scandinavia, inspired by the frozen arctic tundra, followed later in the year. The final album in the four-part series, the space-themed Outer Envelopes, arrived in early 2016. This wasn't the end of Multicast Dynamics, however; fifth album Continental Ruins appeared in 2017.
