Hipster Daddy-O And The Handgrenades
Hipster Daddy-O and the Handgrenades began their journey to become anarchist swing masters in Tuscon in 1997. The band members, lead vocalist and guitarist Mike Edward, bassist Ty Lebsack, drummer Daryl Seymore, sax player Mr. Tidy Paws, trombonist Andrew "The Boozeman" Skaggs and trumpeter Grant Lange formed their band just six months before they had their first headlining show, at the Arizona Music Awards, where they were the only band to earn a standing ovation. Their recognition in Arizona continued, with their winning awards for Best Swing Band, Best Live Show and Best Dressed Band in 1998. Word of the band soon spread beyond the desert, however, and the band was signed by swing/ska label Slimstyle Records, who released their first album, Armed & Swingin' in 1997. Their follow-up album with Slimstyle, Diesel, was due in the fall of 2000.
