El Gato Negro
This Toulouse-based musicians' collective is the fruit of a meeting between guitarist, singer and globetrotter Axel Matrod aka "El Gato Negro" and Cuban multi-instrumentalist, singer and composer Irina Gonzalez aka "La Gitana Tropical". From 2012 onwards, the four-piece band has been performing locally and nationally under the name El Gato Negro y Su Combo Tropical, offering a spicy blend of cumbia, salsa and other sunny rhythms. Three years and hundreds of concerts later, the tropical troupe released the album Cumbia Libre to great fanfare in the summer of 2015.
